Chimpanzees do NOT live in the Amazonian rainforests. They are native to Africa not South America. In the wild they are only found in sub Saharan Africa, with large populations in the central and western countries such as Gabon, DRC, Guinea, Sierra Leone and the CAR. Smaller population occur as far east as Kenya and Tanzania and as far north as Chad. Habitats rage from dense rain forest to wooded savanna.
