A DO is a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine. A chiropractor is a Doctor of Chiropractic. In the beginning (early 1900's) both Chiropractors and Osteopaths treated the body through spinal manipulation. Now Osteopaths have joined the American Medical Association and currently prescribe drugs and perform surgery. While they are trained in spinal alignment and manipulation it can be difficult to find an Osteopath that performs this procedure. Chiropractors are an independent group and remain commited to treating the body without drugs or surgery through spinal manipulation.

This difference may indicate a slight difference in the education of the chiropractor. For example, in Canada and the US chiropractors complete a 4 year doctoral program (after an undergraduate degree) to get a doctorate in chiropractic (DC) degree. In Australia, chiropractors complete a 2 year masters degree (after an undergraduate degree) to get a masters in chiropractic. Thus, in Canada and the US, a chiropractor is a doctor and has a DC qualification, whereas in Australia a chiropractor is a therapist and has a masters degree not a DC.
Yes. In the United States, in order to become a chiropractor, you must obtain a doctor of chiropractic degree. Australia, on the other hand, only licenses chiropractors on the masters level, and they are therefore not considered doctors.
A chiropractor has to go all the way through medical school. A chiropractor is a doctor. Check with whichever college you choose to see what their requirements are.
You first learn that it is spelled Chiropractor. You then maintain an undergraduate degree and continue onto Chiropractic college.
A person may be able to study part time in order to be a chiropractor. However, there are limited spots available in most programs, so it may be difficult to complete the degree in a timely matter.
Once you are licensed as a chiropractor in NYC, you can set up your own practice. New York University offers a degree in chiropractics. As a new chiropractor you may wish to start off in a group practice so that you can gain some experience before branching off on your own.
My chiropractor is no better than a witch doctor. My chiropractor thinks I am a contortionist. A chiropractor is unrecognized as a professional by other doctors.
Yes, once a chiropractor has completed an undergraduate degree, a chiropractic degree, and passed all the board exams he/she is allowed to open a practice in whatever type of building they like. The restriction is that it must be within the jurisdiction of the regulatory college whose board exams they write. For example, in Canada, if a chiropractor passes the Canadian board exams and the ALberta board exams then they are licenced to practice anywhere they want in Alberta. If they choose to practice out of their home then that is OK.
A bachelor's degree in exercise science will most likely fulfill the prerequisite requirements for entry into a DC program. It will not be sufficient by itself to become licensed in the United States.
There are 2 possibilities: 1) Your chiropractor was having some fun and joking around, be glad you have a personable and fun chiropractor. 2) Your chiropractor is a nut job, find a new chiropractor.
After any person's name "MS" generally means Master of Science. This implies that in addition to the doctor of chiropractic (DC) degree, that the chiropractic physician also obtained a Master's degree.
A chiropractor in Ireland will make about 200,000 dollars per year. An associate chiropractor will make roughly 100,000 dollars per year.
