Yes, cold tires will inflate when they are warmed up because the air inside the tire is expanding as it becomes warmer. That's why it is never recommended to pump up a tire past the maximum psi posted on it.

Does Tire pressure increases as the tires get hot?

When you drive, your tires get warmer, causing the air pressure within them to increase. Your tires can get warm after just 1 mile of driving. you should always check your tire inflation pressure when your tires are cold, and inflate them to the recommended pressure at that time.

What will happen if you inflate a balloon with warm air and take it to a cold place?

The air inside cools. Cool air shrinks. The balloon gets smaller.

How could something that is cold become warm?

By the application of energy.

Why might the tires on a car become flat after sitting in the cold weather?

When air cools, it becomes denser and actually shrinks. If you check the tire pressure when cold and tire pressure when hot, you'll see that the tire pressure is higher when the tires are warm. Your tires were probably borderline low before the temperature changed. To minimize the effect, you can fill your tires with nitrogen instead. The pressure will fluctuate less. Check the pressure in your tires every time you fill up. You'll get better gas mileage, and your tires will last longer if you maintain the correct pressure in them.

Why should tires be filled when they are cold?

Tire maintenance is best done when cold it is the closest to the actual pressure as air warms the pressure rises it may be as much as 10 pounds difference in cars so..... filling a tire warm will result in lower than safe operation pressure when cold.

Why can you see your breath on cold mornings?
