Methadone is used to treat people who are addicted to opiates such as oxycontin. Many people enter treatment facilities and take methadone to help themselves to get off the opiates and eventually detox from the methadone.

Why do people use Oxycontin?

It originally is prescribed for pain, but some people get addicted to it.

How do you use Oxycontin to withdrawal from methadone?

You Don't. You are simply trading one opiate for another. Also, that would be incredibly pointless. There is a reason Drug programs offer METHADONE to get off of opiates and NOT oxycontin. That reason is simple, 1. Methadone lasts much longer than OxyContin and has much less euphoric effects, which helps people function better. 2, Methadone is MUCH cheaper than OxyContin and much more accessible, like at clinics. It makes absolutely no sense to take something even more powerful than the substance you are trying to withdrawal from (meaning OxyContin is much stronger in its euphoric effect). The best thing to do to withdrawal from methadone would be to taper off slowly like they do it at methadone clinics. But if you are switching drugs for pain management (going from methadone to Oxycontin), you will not really experience withdrawal symptoms. You will just feel slightly uncomfortable at first as your body makes the adjustment.

Who would use methadone?

Methadone is prescribed to people who are addicted to opiates and is also used for pain management in some cases.

Is it ok to take methadone and then percs?

That would be defeating the object. If you are on a drugs program, they will slowly reduce your Methadone prescription and provide other support if needed.

How many people are using Ketamine today?

Could you be addicted to heroin after five days?

It depends on the person. In most people, usually not. Methadone has receptor-blocking properties and will clog up your opiate receptors blocking out most other opiates. But it is still possible to feel other opiates on such a low dose of MEthadone, depending on your Methadone tolerance.

Why don't you get a buzz on methadone maintenance?

The purpose of methadone maintenance is to treat opiate addiction and in some cases pain management. Methadone is not meant to produce an euphoric effect and if a buzz feeling results after taking methadone, that usually means it is too much.

Is oxycotton an addictive?

Oxycontin (or Oxycodone) can be very addictive. Some people can become addicted on their first to second try. Others may not become addicted unless they use it chronically. It usually depends on your personality, situation, tollerence, and how much you use it. More times than not, several uses will cause addiction for this drug, so I recommend not taking it unless you are prescribed to it. If you are prescribed, follow the doctors instructions.

Does methadone cancel out the effects of oxycodone?

methadone is a very strong version of Oxycontin. it's used to help people having withrdrawals from Oxycontin and heroin so it's an extremely strong version of it. i don't recommend mixing the two because methadone is basically the equivalent of 160 mgs of Oxycontin.

What if you mix Oxycontin with meloxicam?

Do you have a legal prescription? If you go to your doctor, he or she will look at your medical history and decide which medications are safe for you to take. The problem is when people go to many different doctors and the doctors don't know what else you are taking.I don't recommend taking two long acting pain killers together. Oxycontin is very dangerous and very addictive.

How many people in the us are addicted to Oxycontin?

it didn't take me long at all. I had neck surgery and I was put on ovycontin and percocet and now I'm dependent on both. When I tried to get off the percocet cold turkey, it was horrible, cold sweats, shaking, basically withdrawal. Not sure how the drs are going to get off them. so basically the answer is highly addictive!
