When a cat and dog touch each others noses, they're trying to figure out whether the other one is friendly or not. If yes, then the dog will wag his tail and the cat will make a purring sound. If no, then you can hear a growl from the dog's part and this time the cat will be wagging its tail in fury! Get them separated as soon as possible if you don't want a cat and dog showdown!
Not all cats. Some cats greatly dislike being cuddled, hugged, held, and kissed, and may or may not hurt you to get you to stop. Others don't mind at all and may return the favor, but it's best not to do it if your particular cat is one in the former category. However, those who do like being cuddled, hugged, held and kissed are very affectionate and probably require a lot of attention, so be sure to give them that.
