Actually that depends on how it dies, if it is dies from like starvation yes it does smell because it lays there for a long period of time VS. a dog getting ran over by a car and getting buried quickly.
No. But that which is causing the smell can.
Dogs can get sick and die.
No, unless its poisonous gas, which I doubt, Farts may smell bad but you cant die of them.

There is a belief that smelling flowers before death could indicate a peaceful passing or a transition to the afterlife. Some people also interpret it as a sign of divine presence or a way for the soul to prepare for its journey. Ultimately, it is viewed as a comforting and symbolic occurrence.
I believe so. I have smelled "death" once before and now smell it in my mother that is seemingly healthy but have a premonition that she will die before the end of the year. targil1@aol.com
about 20million dogs can die just around the world but hey don't get ur hopes up get another dog how bad will it be

It means someone you know will die soon.
Dogs tongues are not black when the are dead.
I think its probably because they can smell their own dog smell. Added: Dogs are like people, they are not like cats where if you die, cats will eat you, but dogs will not eat you. Anyways like I was saying before, dogs are different. Smart in ways, some may not seem very smart to you, but were just like them. They know that they don't want to be a "cannibal" as we would put it. Cats would care less if they ate there brother, or sister.
