No, nothing flows through an open circuit. If there are two flat plates on either side of the open circuit, facing each other, electric charge builds up on each plate until the plates are at the supply voltage.

If the voltage is AC, current will flow all the time as the voltage changes, because the flat plates form a capacitor that can pass AC. But there is no net power.

The pathway taken by an electric current is a?

The term is "circuit" (from the same root as circle) An electric circuit must be uninterrupted for the current to flow. (This is why circuit-breakers are also called circuit-interruptors.)

What is a current circuit?

A current circuit refers to a closed path through which electric current flows. It is formed by connecting various electrical components, such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors, with conducting wires. The current circuit allows the flow of electric charges, usually in the form of electrons, from the power source to the load.

Can electric charges flow through every material?

NO

What flows through a circuit and causes a magnetic field?

An electric current flowing through a circuit causes a magnetic field. This is due to the movement of electric charges, usually electrons, in the circuit. The magnetic field produced is perpendicular to the direction of the current flow.
