The working principle of Electronic Muscle Stimulation is using a small amount of electricity administered through the skin and into the muscle causes muscles to contract. This is the same process that your body goes through when you are working out- each time your muscles contract, they grow a little bit stronger.

But this is only a part of the whole process, to build a muscle, you need to have a balanced diet as well.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, using an EMS may indeed tone and strengthen muscle to a limited extent. However, the FDA also felt it necessary to state that noticeable, physical changes won't occur if a person uses only an EMS. That will only happen if an EMS is combined with regular diet and exercise.

Do electronic muscle stimulators really work?

An Electronic muscle stimulator (EMS) device may AT BEST temporarily strengthen muscles and may even tone them up but they really do not help you maintain weight, reduce weight. The fact is that they do not even help in any way to get tight abs the way crunch exercises make them achieve.
