This is not to take our need of continual cleansing lightly but instead rests upon the sufficiency of Christ as an atoning sacrifice on the cross. So, continual cleansing is premised upon the completed, all-sufficient sacrifice of Christ. The empty cross of Protestantism is a symbol that there is neither a need or possibility that Christ nor any other must "occupy" the cross again.

I see the cross of Jesus Christ as being beautiful because he died on that cross to save me from my sins; and not only mine but for the sins of the world: to them that choose to believe..I see the EMPTY cross of Jesus Christ as beautiful because it signifies that He rose from the dead and is alive and is a living God; King of Kings and Lord of Lords; and in His name I can talk to the living God and get prayers answered and know that I am never alone in this world.AMEN!
