No, it does not. But it is the traditional way of ending a fairy tale. Non-fairy tale books may also end with "The End". It is not required in any way, it is just a fun little way of ending a story.

No, Fairy Tales do not have to have a happy ending. While many traditional fairy tales end happily, there are also tales that have sad or bittersweet conclusions. The important aspect of a fairy tale is its moral lesson or underlying message, rather than the specific ending.

There are several that end tragically/ or the moral angle is reversed and the Bad Guy or guys win. An example of the latter is Pied Piper of Hamelin, something I have never liked, as it hints at child abuse and abduction- and he gets away with it. - having risen, from a subterranean prison- in one poetic angle-. The Little match girl ends tragically-here dealing also with separation angst- a semi-sad theme even if resolved positively as it often is in songs and movies. In the original of the Little Mermaid- she dies and dissolves into the water- which explains the lack of mermaid fossils- foir violating laws against miscegenation- falling in love with an Earth Man. so it goes. there are some Kindergarten four-handkerchiefers.

No, there are ways to end a good story that aren't necessarily happy ones for example, something bad could happen to someone that wasn't expected therefore the ending wouldn't be happy but would shock the reader.

CheeseOfBook helping out now: No. It depends on what you mean by good story. There are many unhappy stories that are great literature. But if you mean actual story, then no. Pretty much what the other person said. But the book can be happy, and something sad happen. Just like what classifies a comedy. If it is funny and ends happily then it is a comedy. But if your book is happy, but it completely ends horribly, then it could, or could not be a happy story. It really depends on the book. Usually it could be happy. If it ends where lots of bad stuff happens, it is probably sad. I am not judging the book. I am just saying. Hope I helped (but I probably didn't...)!

How are fractured fairy tales and fairy tales different?

Fractured fairy tales are a modern twist on traditional fairy tales that involve changes to the original story, characters, or setting to create a humorous or satirical effect. They often subvert or parody the conventions of traditional fairy tales. Fairy tales, on the other hand, are traditional stories that typically involve magical elements, mythical creatures, and moral lessons.
