i have not heard of them eating seeds but it would be a good thing to experiment with if you gave them seasame seeds!! they do eat flakes, pellets, and blood worms...and no they dont eat other fish!!

You should get some sucker fish and they will eat it instead of the fantails (but beware they are really hard to catch if you have a new tank that what you first put them in)
