There is legally speaking no requirement that the father of either the bride or the groom be present at a wedding, though it's customary. (Even if one of them is underage and requires parental consent to marry, this doesn't generally have to be done at the wedding itself.)

It's... nontraditional, to say the least... for anyone except the couple themselves to be present on the wedding night(that is, after the reception).
