I looked up the owner's manual - I also have a 2001 Chevy Astro Van, and there is a setting called resyncronization. If you hold both buttons down, the lock and unlock, for 8 seconds, it will recycle the alarm and synchronize it to the key fob remote. When the alarm goes off, just hit unlock twice like you normally would, and it should be fixed.
Trace down the alarm box and cut the wires off. The alarm is not a factory option.
To set an alarm: Press "Mode" repeatedly until the hour starts to blink. "A" indicates you are setting the alarm. Blinking hour indicates you are setting the hour. To change the hour, press "start". To switch to minutes, press "Reset". When minutes are blinking, press "start" to change the minutes. To turn alarm on or off, hold down the "Reset" button, then push "Start" at the same time.
