Not ALL fish do live in Salt water. There are plenty of "Fresh water" fish around....Wikipedia states that 41% of all known species of fish are found in freshwater. SO that means that ALL the rest are found in salt water.

Sharks, Rays, Cod, Ling, Hake, Halibut, Turbot, Haddock, Clown Fish, Parrot Fish, Sun Fish, Sea Horses etc etc and some fish which bread in fresh water spend most of their life in salt water, like the Salmon and Sea Trout. Eels start their life in salt water, migrate to fresh water and then return to the sea to bread.

Most fish that are kept as pets are Freshwater Fish. You should check whether the breed you own is fish or salt water.
Salmon are capable of switching from fresh to saltwater. They only do this at specific points in their life cycle.
