There are not currently anywhere near enough anti-frost GMO crops being produced to have any effect on weather at all. There would have to be millions, if not billions, of acres of them to have even a chance at affecting weather, if they could do so. The anti-frost characteristic only changes the plant's ability to withstand the effects of the cold; it doesn't actually change the cold condition of the weather.

My understanding of the activists' objection is not the weather, but rather the nature of the transgenic change to the plant. Their objections seem to be more related to the process of inserting the gene sequence involved, and perhaps its source (an unrelated organism).

All that said, the latter part of your question certainly made me chuckle.

Q: Do frost resistant crops have an effect on global weather patterns or is fear of anti-frost organisms for crops simply a case of sensational anti-GMO Luddites run amok?
