Try to find a hamster that is in good health. Its eyes should be bright and its fur smooth. Check for bald spots or eye/ear infections. If you are allowed, ask to hold the hamster. You will be able to look at it more closely and see how it behaves. It is not wise to buy a hamster that bites because once it knows it can, it is extremely hard to get it to stop. Once you have found a hamster that is cute, in good health, and behaves well, its time to take it home! :)
No, probably not. A baby hamster is like a normal hamster, only smaller, and a baby. But my hamster used to bite me a lot and I didn't get infected. so, no you won't.
