Not in general, but I had a super-smart and very special one a few years ago (Gracie) - and she would come to me on call, follow me around the house, and even seemed to show concern when I was sad. But I haven't found another hamster that could even come close to my Gracie. But I'm still looking.

Many pet stores carry sterile sand that is used to bathe the hamsters but many hamster owners such as my self just give their pet a bath in the tub with a little water.
