Do historians accept the contents of the comic Charley's War as accurate?

I don't think that historians would regard the comic strip as completely and absolutely historically accurate .
Pat Mills did try to keep the strip in harmony with what the common soldier suffered in the trenches during the First World War .
The comic strip did try to accurately portray dates and battles as historically correct .
The strip was an excellent introduction to the pain and futility of that war for a younger generation that only knew of the war through books/films and probably had a family member that someone remembered as dying in the "Great" war and these were the ways the common reader would be acquainted with those events .
Pat Mills , like any writer , will take 'creative licence' with his works but , all in all , I think that both he and the artist had a keen interest in providing the reader with an experience that was for the most part accurate .
