Best Answer

Horses have 64 chromosomes while donkeys have 62, thus a horse has two more chromosomes than a donkey. (For the record a mule has 63 a mix of the horses and donkeys numbers.)

ARE DONKEys faster than horses?

no

How do you know that the horse and the donkey are not of the same species?

Mainly, due to their physical features. Donkeys look differently from horses, a donkeys mane stands straight up, their tails are shorter, and they sound different (donkeys Bray as apposed to the neigh of a horse). Donkeys are also unable to run as fast as horses, unable to pull as much weight as a work horse can, and they are unable to comfortably sit a person and saddle on their backs. Another reason how it is proven that Donkeys are of a different Species than horses is the number of chromosomal pairs in each. Horse's have 64 chromosomes and Donkeys have only 62, leaving the offspring with 63 chromosomes.

If donkeys protect horses and goats protect sheep what protects cattle?

Cattle are not frequently attacked by wild animals and they do a decent job of protecting themselves when attacked. Cattle and hogs do well together, though. They don't compete for the same food and the hogs enjoy eating cow pies. Hogs are also light sleepers so they can roust the cattle if wild predators are about.

Where did the horses go in Minecraft for Xbox One?

The horses are still there. Some worlds spawn them more than others. They also appear to spawn more frequently in normal mode. If you're in creative mode you can spawn them in, along with donkeys and mules.

How can horses be bred from zebras?

Horses can't be bred from zebras. Zebras have a different chromosome count than horses. Crossing them produces a sterile hybrid just as occurs when breeding horses and donkeys.

How can you tell how much your donkey weighs?

I take it you mean whether its a donkey or a horse? Donkeys have bigger ears than horses and their body shape doesn't tend to be as pronounced (this is especially noticable in their head as it is much 'simpler' than a horse's). Donkeys can be a lot more affectionate than horses and they're also not as unpredictable.

What eats less donkeys or horses?

Donkeys come in 3 sizes, mini, standard and mammoth. Even a mammoth is usually only the size of a light horse. Donkeys also are more adapted to harsh environments than the horse and can get more "bang for his buck" out of his feed ration. So the short answer is a donkey eats less to maintain his weight that does a horse.

Why did the ANZACs use donkeys instead of horses?

I wasn't aware that they did, although I know that they used mules. Both mules and donkeys are more intelligent and faithful than horses. They can also survive better in desert conditions as they barely sweat. US and British Army regulations state that 5 mules must be kept on the rations of 3 horses, showing that they are much cheaper to keep.

Which organism had more than 200 chromosomes?

Does a donkey have longer ears or does a horse?

Donkeys have long ears, considerably longer than horses Horses are faster than donkeys. Even smaller horses can outrun a donkey. Donkey's conformation is not as similar as a horse when you look into the finer details. Donkey's need an earlier warning so they can have a head start to run away. Therefore donkeys hearing is better.
