Energy? yes. You money? no. It saves energy by utilizing the alternative fuel as frequent as possible and using the gasoline engine as a back up. The reason I state it doesn't save you money is because of the cost associated with taxes, increased price, and that the average fuel cell is 'rated' for 10 years, but have been failing much more earlier than that. The replacement cost of various Fuel cells are averaging between $3,000.00 to $10,000.00. So what you may have saved monitarily by using the vehicle is gone due to the replacement costs, purchasing the vehicle, etc, which ironically, is MORE than purchasing a traditional vehicle from the onset.
