First you would need to install the program. Pop the software CD or DVD into the DVD drive and it should automatically start to install itself. If not, double click on the CD or DVD drive shortcut on your desktop and select 'autoplay'. If there is no shortcut to the drive on your desktop, go to 'My Computer' to access the CD or DVD drive. Assuming the program installs properly, it will put a shortcut on your desktop and/or your taskbar. Click this shortcut to launch your software.
Windows RE needs to boot from a DVD because it isn't installed on the hard drive. It needs to run from the DVD so it can repair the OS on the hard drive.
Yes
Often on a CD or a DVD there is a file called autorun.inf This file will run when the DVD or CD is inserted into the drive, and it will run a menu or an installation setup.
Most games do not allow this. Plus a DVD has a slower access time, so it is faster to read the data from the hard drive. The DVD is usually only read for DRM privileges, or if you do not have enough space on your computer for all of the content.
If your Macbook Pro has a DVD/CD drive just insert the game CD in the drive and follow the directions. If you do not have a DVD/CD drive you will need to copy the game to a flash drive or use an external DVD/CD drive to install it. Of course the game will have to be Mac compatible or it will not run on a Mac.
