When you have split and have items from that individual it is up to you what you do with them. Some people put them away in a box, some still wear them, some pawn them off, some give them away to a friend, some throw them away and some give them back. Unfortunately it does not mean anything beyond the fact that you are wearing a material item as well as him so don't read anymore into it then is actually there. Only you can decide what is best for you when it comes to a material item.
