Joints can move in many different ways. there is a pivot joint which is the joint in your neck which it like a skinny cillinder on a rectangle. there is also a ball and socket joint which is the one in your shoulder. it allows your shoulder to move in many directions.

The ball and socket joint moves in all directions. It is made up of the ball like end of one bone that fits into the cup shaped socket of another bone. The cup shaped socket of one bone serves as an anchor to the other bone (with the ball shaped end) that can move in all directions.

This joint is also known as the spheroidal joint.

The joint that would move in all directions would be a ball and socket joint, which is like your arm. There are other types of joints, though.

ANS2:No, it is usually considered unhealthy when the fixed joints that hold the skull together (sutures) move.

The body has three different kinds of joints. Hinge joints like the knees, ball and socket joints like the hips and fixed joints like the fontanels of the skull. The third does not move.

What movements do all joints permit?

all joints permit a motion in some way except for the fixed/immovable joint like your scull.

What are amphiarthrotic and synarthrotic examples of?

These are types of functions of the joints. The amphiathrotic joint is slightly moveable, the joints between the vertebra for example. The synathrotic joint is immovable, the sutures of the skull for example.

What directions do molecules move if the concentration is equal on both sides of a membrane?

they should move neither way. Rather, some molecules will move either side, but the concentration will stay the same

Why are hinge joints called hinge joints?

Hinge joints are called so because they mimic a hinge, which is a mechanism on which something swings, limited to two directions, either back and forward or side to side. Think of a hinge on a door. It allows the door to open and close based on that one hinge. Door hinges do not allow the door to pivot or move in any direction besides open/close or front/back. Hinge joints do the same, such as the elbow and knee, which can only move forward and back.Hinge joints are called that because they open and close like any hinge. If you look for one in the home and open and close it, you will see what is meant by a hinge joint. This joint allows movement in one plane only. The ankle and the knee are good examples. The knee is considered the largest one in the body.

What is Ball socket joint?

Ball-and-socket joints allow a wider range of motion than hinge joints.

In the same way that all sharks move - by waving their tail from side to side, creating forward propulsion.

Why do bones join together?

The places in your body where two or more bones are joined together are called joints. Some joints are fixed, they do not move, and some joints are movable. Fixed joints are found where one bone lies against another, sometimes with a thin layer of tissue separating them. Joints like these do not move at all, but the tissue is able to soften a hard blow you might receive and keep your bones from breaking. The joints of the bones in your skull are examples of fixed joints. Movable joints are divided into three types, depending on their uses. There are hinge joints, pivot joints, and ball and socket joints. Hinge joints allow the bones to move forward and backward, much like a door opens on its hinges. Hinge joints are found in your knee and fingers. Pivot joints permit the bones to rotate, or turn around. When you move your head from side to side, or rotate your arm at the elbow, you are using pivot joints. But the joints which give you the most movements are ball and socket joints. This is because of the way they are shaped. A long bone joins a shorter bone in this type of joint. The long bone has a large round end that fits into a hollowed-out curved section of the shorter bone, much like the way a ball would fit into the curled-up palm of your hand. Ball and socket joints give you the freedom of movement in your shoulders and hips. Of the 22 bones connected by joints in your skull, only one can move, the one in your lower jaw, which permits you to talk, laugh, and chew food!
