Yes, Julii fish do swim in shoals. They like to swim in a group of 5 or 6 ,I found this answer from a professional.
I brought a Julii fish when my tank was set up and the water was at the correct temperature for tropical fish (25 degress c), then exactly a week later, I brought another Julii fish and put it in the tank, straight away they went to each other and swam togethor. I think they might be mating already even though they have been togethor for a few minutes, BUT if your tank is full i personally would recommend not to get two of different genders just incase they mate.
Any kind of sucker fish. They look like mini catfish, make sure that the fish you are buying to be in the same tank as a Julii fish are tropical. Random Tip About Fish: Guppys and Platy mickey mouse fish get along really well, this is from experience as i have these fish in my tank. I also have a Julii fish in with them however i need to get more Julii fish as they don't like to be alone. Make sure the current of your water is not too high as my Julii fish could'nt swim in the high current very well so we had to change the filter.
Individual fish are safer from a predator if swimming in a shoal, than if they are swimming alone.

The largest school of fish on record was a school of approximately 20 million herrings off the coast of NJ. The school was roughly the size of Manhattan, and was reported in 2006.
