No. As you said, they are both outputs. Both are designed to send their signals to an external display. The only current HDMI- compatible connector on a computer that can be reconfigured as an input is the DisplayPort connector on the 27" iMac.
If the graphics card has a Hdmi output, then I guess you could. My PC screen only has the computer connection so I'm stuffed. I would advise buying a nice big full HD tv maybe 37" like mine. However if you are a tight wod i guess you could get away with a 20" Hd t.v. . You need a HDMI input for this to work on a laptop screen. The HDMI output is to allow the Laptop to be plugged into a HDTV and have the HDTV work as the Screen for the laptop.
If it is a playstation 3 and the TV has HDMI input and you have a HDMI calbe then it will work.
Yes, you can in some cases. If your laptop has an HDMI output, a single HDMI lead is all that you will need. Most laptops with an HDMI output also include sound on the connectors but there are some that don't. If your laptop has a DVI connector, a DVI to HDMI lead will work but note that there is never any sound on a DVI connector. If you need to run sound separately, use an analog audio lead. Most televisions have a separate audio input linked to at least one HDMI input that will provide for a separate audio feed.
No. The DVI port on your computer is output only. However, you may be able to find a USB TV tuner card with DVI input that would allow you to pull this off.
plug it up your butthole then it works jokes
The most common reason is that you have not configured the video card of your computer to display an image on the HDMI output.
Any standard HDMI cable can be used with the Playstation 3. The connector on the Playstation 3 unit itself is simply a standard HDMI output.
Your PC's video settings may need to be changed in order to enable the HDMI output. Check your video card control panel.
Almost all BluRay players have an analog video output which can be used to connect to standard definition televisions. The output is a copy of the HDMI output but is only standard definition. To experience the HD quality, and HD television with an HDMI interface is needed.
The HDMI cable should be plugged in to an HDTV. If you have a Laptop or PC with a HDMI plug slot on it is also so it can be plugged in to a HDTV and is an out HDMI PLUG SLOT like the one that is on the PS3. Some HDMI cables that are sold are of low quality and do not work, stick with brand name cables that are not purchased from highly counterfeit sources in overseas locations.
Any HDMI cable that has an HDMI logo will work. All HDMI products need to be tested and licensed by the HDMI organization. If a cable passes the test, it works. If HDMI cables work, they work as well as ANY other HDMI cable. The digital nature of the signal means that high cost cables do not deliver a better quality image than low cost cables. So, select the lowest cost cable in the store - it will be every bit as good as the most expensive.
You can't do that. You need to use a 2nd video output of your laptop such as s-video DVI displayport HDMI etc. BTW When they say it can use 2 screens? I think you're already doing it with 1 VGA monitor. Since your laptop has a screen.
