Well to make a laptop run/do stuff on yes. When the laptop is plugged in, it is taking in 75% of enegry but then the other 25% goes to the battery where it is stored for if you don't have the plug, then it will use the enegry from the battery.

∙ 13y agonope.. :P mean u'll use your laptop directly with ur charger u can use it but at that time ur laptops battery contacts have voltage. by accidentally if there contacts shorted by any metal object or by water or any conducting material then laptop 'll gone.. :o.. :P so do not use laptop without a battery.

∙ 12y agoLaptop at work does not have to use battery, but if you experience a sudden power failure or When you go out without a power outlet, use battery is very convenient.
On one occasion I didn't use the battery, and the room suddenly power failure, leading to my laptop broken, very troublesome, so I always install battery on my laptop.
