Yes, the Sims 2 runs the Studio 15. The Dell Studio 15's are new enough that they meet all the minimum requirements to play Sims 2. I run it on mine along with all the expansions and stuff packs. If for some reason it is not working, it is probably due to settings.

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.
B. By Using Software:
I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

A laptop for gaming will cost you more then $500. Please keep in mind graphics cards range from $150 to $500 and they are the main requirement for gaming on any computer. Dell has some machines in that price range like those listed in the link below.
But you will not get a very good gaming laptop in that price range.
Slow makes ofcourse big ressources programs and startup programs... use TuneUp utilities and Auslogics Disk Defrag.

If you have an installation CD, run it. It will give you on-screen instructions. If not, plug the USB connector from the web cam into an open USB port on your laptop. Watch the screen for a pop up that indicates a driver has been located and is being installed. When it says your driver has been successfully installed and your device is ready to use, close that window. If you don't have a disc from the cam maker, you can use Picassa from google. itunes from Apple and a variety of other applications to view your webcam through.
It depends on what the manufacturer put in and if any was added by the buyer. The technical term for memory is RAM (Random Access Memory) You'll have to check the specs to see which computer has more. Popular stock RAM sizes are 512MB and 1GB of RAM. In general, desktops have the capacity to hold more RAM than laptops. Some laptops now hold up to 4GB of RAM, but you'll likely have to buy extra RAM to max it out. Some desktops now how up to 16GB of RAM. Ram is particularly important in Video and Sound editing. If you're simply needing to run Microsoft Office and surf the web, then a laptop with 1GB of RAM is probably all you'll need.

infernosheep: Do not buy dell, they are so cheap. they break so quickly and the customer service is bad. you should avoid buying dell computers. invest in something else, save your time, money and hassle.
Overpriced.
Dells are one of the worst places to buy a computer from. It has one of the highest markups in the industry. Usually, the only ones with higher markup are "pre-assembled gaming rigs" such as Alienware (Which Dell actually owns) and Macs. Their lower priced computers are a few months to years behind their competition's. Their high performance computers have a much higher price tag than a self built or that of a competitor's.
Dell also has a disappointing tech support. Don't expect much more than someone in India reading off a manual when you have a problem.
If you do want a new computer, stay away from Dell and get something from a more or less neutral shopping website.
I have a dell and it is THE worst computer I've ever had in my life. I get unfixable viruses on it, due to windows files able to be edited by the virus (which is a problem other computers don't have, and is also the programmer's mistake). If you do get a virus it attaches itself to a windows file, so when you get a virus protector and it finds the virus, it will delete the entire system file. The next time you restart your computer, you no longer have a computer and you have to do a complete system restore. When this happens you lose everything on your computer. EVERYTHING. You then need to do a complete system restore. When you get your windows system back up, you have a completely clean computer. There's nothing on it. You need to separately download important graphic and video drivers, and drivers that allow you to connect to the internet. Right now I am trying to find an Ethernet driver because this is exactly what happened to me about 3 hours ago for the 2nd time in 3 months. It's happened about 4 times now. Those Cd's that Dell's computer comes with, the ones that download drivers, half of them don't work at all. So I tried to call Dell up to see if they could tell me which drivers I needed just so I could have internet on my computer. I got an Indian woman who barely spoke English. She kept asking me for the express service code. In failing attempts to understand me she transferred me to the wrong service department. I got a nice man who asked me for the same code. I gave it to him, and when I told him my name, he said he couldn't help me because
1) It was the wrong department.
2) The computer wasn't under my company name (wtf)
He also said the right service department probably couldn't help me either for that last reason. I asked him why he couldn't just tell me which driver I needed and he said "because how would you like it if someone stole your computer and asked us for help. YOU wouldn't want us to give them help." How many people in the world sell and trade computers?? How many computers in the world isn't under the original buyer's name?? And how on Earth is that relevant to at all?? So what, now Dell has a nice little moral code that only helps.. hmm, 40% of their customers? Dells are going to be traded, and it's going to be to poor unsuspecting people who don't know enough about computers to know that a Dell is ABSOLUTELY horrible.
A different perspective:
While a small amount of info provided by the pervious answerer is true, Most of it is false. Dell is a good computer for the money and for the performance. And with in comparison to other manufacturers, Dell has the better support response and time to client. This is still poor, but it is the best in the industry. Remember, most people that have to call any tech support for issues and problems with their system, are usually upset and thus, at that moment, any computer would be considered a piece of junk! As far as price, it would depend on what you need it for. You can't just simply buy a Dell from Wal-Mart and expect it to game out of the box. These are usually pre-configured for work, homework and Internet access. If you have a desire for a gamer, as with any computer, you should customize it via the web site of the target computer you are looking for. As for the " India" tech support, this is true to a point. Almost every computer manufacture, as well as software maker, has an Indian tech screening system. If you need parts replaced, then they will transfer you to a Second tier support person, usually (most of the time) in the US. Don't let the previous information dissuade your choice in a Dell. They are descent computers and laptops.
