Absolutely not. A man is commanded by God to treat his wife and children well. In Islam the laws that are SUPPOSED to exist for a woman are:
1) A woman can not be forced to marry someone she does not want to marry.
2) A woman has the right to inherit wealth from relatives who pass away.
3) A woman can have a job - as long as it is not a sinful job like serving alcohol or something else that is immoral.
4) A woman can own property and employ people to work for her.
5) A woman can divorce her husband even if the reason is that she just does not love him.
6) A woman does not change her name when she gets married. She maintains her own identity.
7) A woman is not required to do housework. If she does do it, then it is considered a good deed on her part. If her husband is wealthy, and can afford a maid, then the woman has the right to demand a maid.
8) A woman does not have to spend her money on her family. If she does, it is considered a charity on her part. It is the obligation of the man to spend his money on her and her children.
Some people refer to one verse of the Qur'an which seems to say that it is permitted for a man to hit his wife. This verse does NOT mean that. If a woman is giving her husband a lot of trouble then the man can first talk to her. If talking does not calm her down, then the man can sleep away from her. Then, if that also does not calm her down - and there is still anger and yelling, etc. - then the man can make physical contact with her. BUT . . . the rule for this contact is that it has to be so light that it does not even leave a mark on her. Not a scratch, not a bruise.

While this answer above is very good, one mistake I saw was that it said Women were allowed to divorce their husbands, while however this is not true. Only the Husband can divorce, unless that is a part of the dowry (Having the right to divorce.)
But I may be wrong about that last part.
