Best Answer

Yes. As the center of the earth moves, everything there moves with it including the metals it contains. The center moves faster than the surface. Some scientists think that difference is caused by gravitational effects described by Einstein's Theory of Relativity. The gravity from the moon and the sun grabs the surface of the earth. As a result, it slows down the surface. The gravity from the moon slowing down the surface pushes the moon into a higher orbit. The liquid lava between the hard surface and the hard center works as lubricant allowing the surface to go at a slower speed.
