Luckily, no. The vast majority of microorganisms are harmless. We live in a symbiotic, relationship rich, biological world. If it were the case that most organisms caused disease we would not be alive today on account of everything and everyone being infected and/or already dead. The reason why people think that most microorgansims cause disease is because we really don't notice all the good ones until a bad one comes along. Take your intestinal tract, it contains thousands of different strains of microorganisms that actually help you digest your food. Without their help we would literally starve because we wouldn't be able to breakdown our food to absorb the nutrients we need. Now, every so often, one single little microbe type gets in there and we end up with an upset stomach, vomiting, or diarrhea. But, that is only one bad one in comparison to many thousands of good ones.

The same is true of the world around us that we touch but do not ingest. We come in contact with millions of different microbes on a daily basis, but only a very, very, small percentage give us any trouble. That's why basic sanitation such as handwashing is so important. As long as we understand that we live in a world full of good bugs and know how to protect ourselves from the bad ones, we can pretty much stay out of the path of the ones that cause disease.
