Moisturizers that you purchase off the shelf of a store are usually just used for temporarily treating your dry skin. However, some moisturizers can contain alchohol which can dehydrate your skin, so be careful of what it is in your moisturizer. Also, if you have a serious case of dry skin and moisturizers off the shelf are not doing the trick, I would recommend going to your doctor and asking him/her to prescribe you a moisturizer to take care of the issue.

it depends on which moisturiser you have.. some moisturisers prevent spots from coming up, some get rid of spots and some just soften your skin. so read the back of the bottle and see which one it is, or go out and buy one, but always read the back because it will tell you what the product does (sometimes the cheaper moisturisers are better, so don't be put of by the price)
