I assume this is referring to the animal, not the skin growth. If so, I'm pretty sure I came across one doing so in a forest near Los Angeles today.
Improvement: I rescued a mole in my house earlier, my cats were trying to kill it, and when I went to release him the next morning, he looked as if he was dead, I was even able to carry him, and move him in my hands, I literally thought he was dead, but I had my suspicions, so I took him out into my garden and he quickly jumped up and scurried away. Don't be fooled by these little buggers =p
