Yes, there are parts of China that eat dogs. Dog eating is generally regionally restricted to several parts of China, such as Guangdong and some Northern provinces. However, this is falling out of practise because an increasing amount of Chinese see dogs solely as pets.

Dog meat, on the other hand, is illegal in Hong Kong, and is heavily punishable.

In the past, the Chinese frequently had to resort to eating dogs since the relationship was not as cozy in the west, coupled with constant famines. This applies to the USA too, as dogs were eaten by several Americans up until the mid 20th century due to famine and a pseudo-science that TB could be cured with dog meat.

Before bashing other cultures for consumption of animals we love, keep in mind that we do it too. Cattle are viewed as sacred in India, yet Americans and almost any other Western country consume them every day.

Yes it is true sadly, why? Because chinease people are really really poor so most people can't afford. So they take stray dog's from streets. Bring them in, then hang them. Next they butcher them. Finally they cook. P.s this stuff is true because i visited china and this was there tradition they said to me and they ask me to try and i said "NO THANK YOU"!
