In a sense, motors do have cranks installed. It is the starter that acts as a crank to turn the engine in order to create a spark and start it. Any device, whether manual or electrical, used to rotate the motor in order for it to start, is called a crank.
it is easier to pedal with longer cranks because you have more leverage but it is not necessarily better to have really long cranks.
do you mean it cranks, but will not start?

If the engine cranks & cranks & cranks before it starts even though it's warmed up already.

If it just cranks and cranks and cranks then it's likely fuel pump. If it died and it won't turn over anymore, likely alternator.

I assume that "redline " is the max rev per min!? If its stock your only limited by the valve springs on the valves. These motors were built strong ( forged cranks, hardened rods) made for racing thus making the redline when the valves start to float. Stronger springs = higher rpms! I've seen these motors easily reach 9000 rpm
