If the engine cranks & cranks & cranks before it starts even though it's warmed up already.
If it is bad, replacing it will help with the vehicles emissions and put out the check engine light.
The regulator is part of the engine computer. You will have to replace the computer. The regulator is part of the engine computer. You will have to replace the computer.
It is one of three things. A) Spark Plugs B) Fuel Pump C) Vaccum Hose It's most likely the plugs, but could very easily be a fuel pump. Vaccum hoses rarely go out but it very well could be a compression problem.
bad ignition switch, bad battery, bad alternator/regulator,
did you also replace the regulator? sometimes its the regulator that goes bad and not the motor.
Symptoms of a Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator Check related link below
You will have and possibly no start. Remove the regulator vaccum, turn the ignition on and it shouldn't spray gasoline, if it does the regulator is bad.
Possible bad fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator. Give more symptoms
If you Google "Symptoms of a faulty fuel regulator" you will get quite a few hits. If the regulator is bad it may cause either a drop in fuel pressure or an increase in fuel pressure at the rail . A drop in fuel pressure, if severe enough, can cause bad or no idle condition, engine starving for fuel and etc. If the regulator is causing excessive pressure it can cause fouled plugs, black smoke from exhaust and rough engine performance. Before you change the regulator check for cracked, rotted or disconnected vacuum hose. Also you can connect a fuel pressure gauge to the schrader valve on the rail and monitor the pressure to see if it is in specifications, or to see if the fuel pressure drops rapidly after engine shutdown. Hope this helps and good luck with your problem. Dan
A bad fuel pressure regulator will cause the car to stall or not run .
Do a fuel pressure test
you have to use a vacuum pump and aply pressure to it and if fuel goes into the regulator then its working.
There is a retaining clip you need to pry out from around the perimeter of the regulator. I took mine out and found a lot of dirt on the screen. I cleaned that off and the bad symptoms went away without changing out the regulator.
Then you have a BAD fuel pump. Replace the pump and filter. If it is higher then 63 LBS. then the fuel pressure regulator is bad.
the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail might be bad
either your fuel pressure regulator is bad or the fuel pump is weak and going
its not in the manifold it should be on your fuel rail
