Actually, an opposum will eat about anything. They love fruit, bugs, snales, garbage, and ....even snakes... . Snakes make a great protein source for an opposum. Opposums are amune to rattle snake, copperhead, and cottonmouth poison. BTW...Although they can hold on with their tails they can not hang by them for more than a few seconds. And they do not carry their young attached to their tails, although you may see a young opposum holding on to mom's tail for a few minutes. With a body temperature of only 94f it is very unlikely for rabies to survive in the body of an opposum. Opposums have many really kool facts about them that few people know.
