Some parrots, including parakeets, develop a nasty habit of eating their eggs. This isn't very common, but it does happen. Usually this is seen if a pair doesn't feel their offspring will be safe (they'd rather eat the eggs than allow their offspring to be killed). Keets don't purposely break their own eggs...eggs get broken when the birds go in/out of their nesting box, particularly if they are frightened out of the box and in their hurry to get out, they crush eggs.
