Actually, peanut plants do grow from peanuts. However, you have to make sure that they are raw peanuts. If you try to use roasted peanuts, they will not work. Plant the entire peanut (shell and all) and water if very well. Do not water it again until you see the peanut plant begin to sprout!

No. Peanuts don't grow on trees. However, if the peanut is viable, you might get a peanut plant to grow. "Viable" in this case means still alive, which means it can't be roasted or salted; both practices will kill the germination of the seed.
