Do people know that Mormons believe that God was once a man which means that God was once ninety nine percent monkey DNA and somehow made it all the way to be the all mighty?

Many people do know that Mormons believe "as man is, God once was; as God is, man may become." This is one of the main reasons why most Christian groups will not accept Mormons as Christian.

However, if you know much about DNA, you will know that every living thing has much of the same DNA - which means that not only do you share much of your DNA sequence with monkeys; you also share DNA with grasshoppers, elephants, and crabs. The majority of the DNA sequence is common among all living things. If God does indeed have DNA (the Mormon Church has not made any statement regarding whether exalted or deified beings have DNA or if this is a component of mortal bodies only), you would have at least 99% of God's DNA - much more than you share with monkeys, grasshoppers, elephants, or crabs. This is to be expected - The Bible says that man is created by God in the image and likeness of God. This is not an effort to humanize God, but to emphasize the sacred and spiritual nature of man as God's creation.

DNA has nothing to do with eternal salvation or exaltation - it only defines how the proteins that make up your physical body are created and organized. Salvation and exaltation are based on your spiritual faith and obedience to God - these are things that DNA absolutely cannot affect.
