By Definition Voodoo deals with powers that be- beyond normal reality and thus would be classed as a Supernatural belief system or a primitive religion. Voodoo has elements of sympathetic magic- such as Voodoo dolls and related object and the morbid angle comes in with curses and the Zombie or Zombi complex, lit the ghost that walks. The comic-strip character, the Phantom, seemed to have an African genesis and his super-powers in part depended upon something like Voodoo, unlike the psychic hypno-magic of The Shadow. The Phantom wore a tight-fitting costume with a sort of flight-helmet all of purple color. Purple is associated with both royalty, and morbid passion.
Most people that honestly use voodoo dolls will make them their self to suit their intended purpose.
While voodoo dolls are often seen as an ancient ritual to some, there are still cultures that practice the use of dolls. In Haiti, people who practice with voodoo dolls are called "vodouists." In the United States there is still some voodoo culture in the south, such as Lousiana.
No. Voodoo is practiced only in the Western Hemisphere, though there are some similarities between Voodoo practices and traditional tribal religious practices from all over Africa.
Voodoo is a very interesting word.
The person you are using it on has to believe that hat you are using it on him/her and believe in it. otherwise its just another fanciful story.
Torture is not generally a part of Voodoo.

OBVIOUSLY THE ANSWER IS SEE A VOODOO PERSON - find out what other people think, whether Bloody Mary and the Ouija board are real or myth. Then you can use spiritual means or voodoo to address the situation. --- Sound advice if either Bloody Mary or a Ouija Board could actually kill (urban legend). But that's probably not going to help your supposedly dead friend. There are, however, people who do believe in voodoo.
The real aquestion should be, "Why does there need to be any supernatural being at any one time?" since the most important one to any person or people is the one that they believe in, and they use their beliefs to destroy other people and therefore the power of that people's god. This question is irrelevant to any body who is not obsessed by religious doctrine and think that theirs is the only true way to think. You CAN believe in Cupid, Loki and all the rest ...you can even believe in the tooth fairy if you want... enjoy.
