Mantids will usually eat anything that moves, but from my studies, ants are too small to justify the energy required to capture one. They would probably have a hard time holding it. I had a praying mantis that ate a lizard; the lizard was my pet and I never thought it would happen. This was before the days of computers so I couldn't simply Google the subject. They love crickets; I've actually fed them by hand. They don't have any interest in earthworms, at least mine didn't.
Praying mantises love crickets but be careful! If you catch the cricket there is a slight chance that that\those cricket(s) could have been in a lawn with fertilizer in it. That can be harmful, even deadly for a paying mantis.
Praying mantises eat crickets, moths, flies, bugs, and stink bugs. They can't eat rollypollies because of their hard shell.
