With the advent of various levels of Technology, more Executives believe that Secretaries are no longer relevant, since they have their laptops and other machines and equpment to handle their jobs. This has however increased their labour works and reduced their mental input. Combining the two at the same level can only increase stress and therefore reduce lifespan. What are the reasons for their assumption? Most people do not really know what the Secretary should be doing in organisations and unfortunately some secretaries don't too! Another reason is that the Secretaries do not develop themselves alongside the business and the Executives themselves, therefore, after some time they become more of liability to the business than asset; also that there are people with lower qualifications and intelligence who can as well handle their jobs and receive less pay than employing graduate secretaries who is not likely to add so much to the business than what an ordinary clerk would. It's high time Secretaries develop themselves and desire to rise with the business than just sitting down behind a computer and relegating herself to the level of office assistant.
