I believe garden snails do sleep. Not like I know it from experience, but I find that my garden snails often go into their shells and stay like that for a while. Though I predict this behaviour is done to prevent themselves from drying up, I believe that they should be having a nice rest inside their shell, too.
Live like other small creatures.

in their shells Snails hide usually in between foliage at ground level, under rocks or planks, or anywhere that is not too hot and not too cold for them. Also where they cannot be easily seen by predators such as birds. That is why they come out into the open at night time and travel to good feeding places. They like the leaves and petals of many varieties of flowers, especially 'Cinerarias'.
Lemurs are arboreal (tree-dwelling), so yes, they like high places.
