Yes they do. there is also a free volunter service called the FCA. Ireland has a very well trained and respected Defence force and are deployed all of thr world on post and actual conflict zones as peace keepers. Irish Army rangers are the special forces wing and would be on a par with the SAS in their experience with Ct work and CI work. Ireland is Neautral and the defence forces are there to protect the Nation and waters. Small in numbers but well equipped and well trained the reserves are also quite effective.
