Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris did not specifically target Rachel Scott when they committed the Columbine High School massacre in 1999. Rachel Scott was the first victim of the attack, and she was shot and killed by Harris outside the school. Klebold and Harris went on to kill 12 other students and a teacher before taking their own lives.

Wayne and Kathy Harris have been trying to stay out of the public eye, and have declined offers of interviews and generally avoided exposure. They moved out of Littleton sometime after the massacre. Tom and Sue Klebold gave interviews to the police and a few small media interviews. They looked into teen suicide prevention programs, and Sue has written an essay for O magazine explaining her feelings on the massacre. The Klebolds still live in Littleton.
