Termites, like all insects, need air. Yes, they will die if submerged in water for a period of time. Their eggs will not necessarily be killed. they need to be submerged for a long time (possibly several hours), better add some soap- that will kill them for sure
No.The termites do not drink water because why would termites eat something dry as wood if they needed water?
They live near wet damp areas, such as swamps.
It seems that there are many different species even among termites. Where as some do not eat much wood at all, others seem to have a feast on wood. A program I saw on National Geographic said that they grew their own mushroms in their houses, and that was their primary diet. It varies how efficient their digesting-system works on cellulose. Some are in fact dependent on bacterial parasites in order to get energy out of cellulose. Various species prefer leafs and half rotten wood. Other species again prefer the fresh stuff. I do not think it matter much whether your garden furniture is softwood or hardwood regarding the right species of termites. I am however sure the hardwood would last slightly longer.
They live in the ocean or wet spots (Damp).
Trying to start a fire with damp wood is very difficult. When I backpack I always carry some tinder (dry shavings) to start a fire. Wet wood will not burn unless the fire is hot enough to evaporate the water that is in the wood. You can burn damp wood on an already burning fire but it will not burn as hot. Wet wood tends to smoke a lot and may go out on a small fire that does not have a good coal base. I have had to use damp wood to start a fire before but I had to shave down the wood until I found dry wood inside. Once you get a small fire started gradually add wood until you can get a hot fire. Too much wet wood at once can put out a fire. Not a good thing when you are cold and wet. Be patient.
Well, worms may live in wet and damp areas such as wet soil. They love soil to squirm around in.
"Damp" is a word meaning, "slightly wet". So, damp hair is hair that is slightly wet.
Woodlice are crustaceans; even though they live on land, they require a damp environment to keep from drying out. Leaf litter and hollow logs trap moisture, protect them from the heat of the sun, and...
Yes, in fact they thrive in a wet damp environment.
Wild tree frogs originate from rainforests, where it is very humid and damp. They normally live in the top parts of trees, camouflaged in the leaves. It's very hard to spot them. They prefer hot conditions all year around.
