Texel guinea pigs are very high maintenance pets. They require constant cutting of hair since it grows so fast on the animal.
guinea pigs are born with fur unless the are skinny guinea pigs ( breeds with no hair)
You could if you really wanted to but you don't need to.
There are 7 types of guinea pigs that are recognised world wide! The main types of guinea pigs, (the ones your mot likely to find at your pet store) Are the breeds, American and the abyssinian. The other 5 breeds are, the teddy, peruvian, silkie, texel and coronet. There are also other breeds that arn't classified as pure bred breeds and a classic example of this is the hair-less guinea pig.
no
guinea pigs with long hair. they needed to be brushed every day
No. Most domestic guinea pigs have short hair and freeze to death in the cold.
First of all, guinea pigs don't have fur, they have hair. That is why they are used for testing cosmetics and hair products. As a guinea pigs ages, it's hair probably gets just a little lighter or darker. But that is only true with colored guinea pigs, not albinos.
Yes, guinea pigs should have a saltblock.
I'm Laura and I own 14 guinea pigs and no a baby guinea pig cant have no hair baby guinea pigs get born with hair and everything (very unlike baby bunnies) so they can run and eat straight away when they are born they practically look like mini adults
they aren't. it depends... some pigs have alot of hair like guinea pigs and then barn pigs have thin hair that covers most of its body
They are very cute! Also they have a lot of personality, love to cuddle, make fun noises, are smart (I've taught all my guinea pigs tricks), come in all sorts of neat colors and coat types (google texel guinea pigs for a really neat curly haired guinea pig), and they do not smell as badly as rabbits if you keep their cage clean.
Long haired guinea pigs don't NEED a bath but it is good for them if you bathe them every 1-3 months depending on how dirty or tangled their fur is and dont need their face and ears cleaned as they do that themselves.
