Another reason is some members of the band use it for a ritual, like how lead vocalist Corey Taylor never washes his mask for good luck. Also it makes them a different look different from any other bands and shows their attitudes through their masks. Actually the reason Slipknot started wearing masks was because Shawn was wearing a Clown one during the early day rehearsals and it kinda freaked the others out coz they couldn't see his face or expressions. they wear masks because it shows their moods that is why most of the band members dont keep the same mask stay sic maggots
