No. The Alpha wolf hunts in a pack. Lone wolves will hunt alone but the Alpha utilizes his pack. In doing so they can take down more or bigger prey which means more food for the pack, pups, and soon-to-be-mothers.
The Alpha is the leader of all the wolves. It will also hunt for the food and stuff.
Lions, hyenas, and wolves hunt together. Bears hunt alone.
wild dogs such as wolves hunt in packs however the alpha-male does not have to hunt after a prey at all its usually the lesser wolves that do the hunting, but the alpha-male is the first to eat, only after the alpha-male is done eating can the rest of the pack eat whats left of the prey ~Agashe
Arctic wolves, also known as Gray wolves, sometimes hunt alone for mice, rabbits, beaver, and domesticated animals. They also form packs of up to about twenty-four to go after large prey such as deer, caribou, and moose.
They hunt small animals because wolves usually hunt alone. When they do hunt together the only take 2-5 members from their pack. That said they can only hunt small animals because of that and because of their short legs.
Wolves hunt at midnight but they usually hunt in the very early mornings(2 am).
It depends on what kind of wolf it is. There are grey wolves (or timber wolves) and they usually roam the forest or woods. There are arctic wolves, and they might be found out on tundras. Plus, there are plains wolves (But I think they are extinct) and like their name, they live out on the plains. There are many more types of wolves that live in different places. How about you use a search engine to find out more?
Females are vital members of the pack, helping with the hunt and with raising the alpha pair's pups. They have many of the same duties and roles as the males.
An Amarok is a gigantic wolf, usually found in Inuit mythology. It was mostly used to scare people who were stupid enough to walk or hunt alone at night. It's said to hunt alone (as opposed to regular wolves, who hunt in packs).
Alpha wolves behave mostly like other wolves. They play, fight, hunt, all normal. But, one characteristic found in an alpha wolf can be a bit harsh, trying to get their pack to consecrate, or breaking up a fight. They would do anything to keep their pack under control. Sometimes, when a wolf is trying to bump up its rank, the alpha wolf would come along and made sure they stayed in their place!!
Some wolves hunt alone, but some wolves hunt in packs. When they hunt in packs they don't just jump up to it, first they stalk it (elk, moose, deer, ect), then they do a plan to gather them together and catch them OR run them into a ditch, canyon, river, stream, ect. Great question :)
They hunt as a pack, but once it is time to feed on their prey it's the most will-strong that goes first. Mostly it is the alpha male and then the alpha female that is first up, and then the rest follows. However, they do not share - "what is mine is mine and no one else".
