Most families consist of 2 parents and 1-2-3 children.
During the 40's-50's-60's most families had more children, let's say 4 children is a nice average for most families.
But if you go back in history you'll notice that families with more than 4 children weren't uncommon, most people in pre-WW1 Belgium were poor farmers of poor working class people. So most children had to help out and earn money.
